Into Battle: self-publishing a coffee table book

Can you count on me to handle major projects independently? Judge by one of my biggest ever.

Here’s what it took to publish Into Battle: The Roller Derby Experience in Photos and Interviews:

235 photos curated, retouched and color corrected; 250 individual permissions confirmed; 169 interviews completed and transcribed; 29 chapters organized; 208 pages laid out; 250-name, 19-league index created; ISBN number secured; print production management team hired; printer selected; editor and proofreader coordinated; press proofs reviewed; printing initiated; web site and Facebook pages built; online shopping cart configured; warehousing and order fulfillment set up; marketing plan launched.

As a senior freelancer, agencies routinely bring me in to take on a complex project and run with it. Hey, it’s what I do.
